Nursing education in Punjab is well marked by the Baba Farid College of Nursing, based at Kotkapura founded in 1997. It is an affiliated college for Faridkot which for the last more than two decades has been instrumental in fashioning the future of health care professionals. Based on a 4 acre area, the institute offers the various nursing courses which are recognised by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). The college admits 236 number of students in total, and a sanctioned strength of 32 faculties, thus offering a proper environment for learning. The institute has four full time courses of which two are two degree course and the other two are diploma course that focuses different aspects of nursing education.
The college has invested in the provision of facilities that will improve the learning environment of students of this college. Currently the college has facility of a new state of art girl’s hostel which has well lit and airy bedrooms and has power back up for 24 hours and it has the capacity to house 300 students. To the nursing and aspiring nurses, the college offers adequately equipped laboratories for anatomy, physiology, fundamental, clinical, nutrition, microbiology, and community. It also has a 50 bedded multi speciality hospital for training purposes. For clinical practice outside the college premises the college is attached with Civil Hospitals Kotkapura, Faridkot and Jaito and for community health practical with P.H.C. Panjgrain Kalan & Bajakhana.
The Nursing courses offered here are four full time courses which focuses on the different regimes of nursing education. They have two degree courses in B.Sc Nursing and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing two diploma courses in General Nursing and Midwifery and Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery.
