Balasaheb Mhatre Polytechnic, Thane was established in the year 2009 as an affiliated college based in Kanhor, Ambernath, Maharashtra. The institute is approved by AICTE and thus assures a high level of technical education. The polytechnic has sprawling 5 acres of campus with varying diploma programmes in the engineering domain. The student intake is 61, and the faculty strength is 52, ensuring a very conducive student-teacher ratio. Balasaheb Mhatre Polytechnic offers five different diploma courses in mechanical, civil, computer, electronics and telecommunication engineering, and information technology.

The under-graduate diploma courses include Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering, with an intake capacity of 60 students each, and Computer Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication, and Information Technology, with an intake capacity of 30 students each.
