The college, having its address in Barpeta, the district of Barpeta, of the state of Assam, is an affiliated college, established in the year 2017 and is known as Barpeta Polytechnic. Affiliated to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), this is a technical institute that imparts diploma courses in engineering disciplines. Located on 13 acres, the polytechnic offers quality education to 489 learners across the available diploma courses. Emphasising a professional approach to learning, Barpeta Polytechnic envisions itself as providing trained technicians responsive to practical industry requirements.

A well-equipped library centre acts as an information centre and acquires an adequate amount of technical books. The laboratory in polytechnic is specific to every department because practical experience is vital to technical learning. To meet students’ leisure activities needs, there are spots that include the sports facilities. Another prime focus of the institute is technology with advanced and sound IT facilities so that the students can update themselves about the latest facilities of the industry. For the male students, there is an on-campus boys’ hostel, where one is assured of a comfortable place to stay. 

The program is offered in three full-time diploma courses at Barpeta Polytechnic, and each course takes. Such courses are Diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Diploma in Civil Engineering, and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
