Baruipur Government Polytechnic, established in 2012, is one of the creative technical institutions in Kolkata. This government owned polytechnic is an affiliated college approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. The institute spreads over a campus of 9 acres, providing the ideal atmosphere for technical education. With a total student enrolment of 584 and a faculty strength of 19, individual attention is provided to the students of Baruipur Government Polytechnic. The institute is co-educational and admits both boys and girls for fulfilling their technical dreams.

The polytechnic has a host of amenities to further enrich the learning experience of the students. 4. Counseling Process: Jointly via the centralized counseling conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education.

5. College and Course Selection During Counseling: Through the process of counseling, candidates may choose Baruipur Government Polytechnic and the course of their choice (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering) according to merit/rank.

6. Document Verification: If offered a seat, the candidate needs to report to Baruipur Government Polytechnic for document verification. The generally required documents are:

  • JEXPO rank card
  • 10th standard mark-sheet-and-pass certificate

Degree-wise Admission Process

Diploma in Electrical Engineering: Approved intake is 60. The first-year admission procedure is entirely based on the merit list of JEXPO. For the second year, seats are filled by the VOCLET (Vocational Lateral Entry Test) conducted by WBSCT& VE & SD.

Similar to those in Electrical Engineering, there are 60 intake capacities in Mechanical Engineering. Admission is for the first year based on the JEXPO ranks. The second year, admission is through lateral entry mode that uses the VOCLET exam.

Civil Engineering: The same is offered in terms of a diploma program in Civil Engineering with 60 seats. Admittance requirement was as others-JEXPO for first-year admission and second-year lateral entry was on the basis of VOCLET.

For all these, generally, the eligibility requirement is that the candidate has passed 10th with Mathematics, Science, and English as compulsory subjects. The candidate is required to qualify in the JEXPO examination to be able to be placed in the merit list for admission.
