BCM College of Education was set up in the year of 1998 and is one of the leading teacher training college in the Ludhiana, Punjab. This college is co-educational and is located on a small area of land of 2.74 acres and has specialisation in education field. The institute is associated with Panjab University and meets nationwide educational standards, as it has approval from the NCTE – National Council for Teacher Education. BCM College of Education has an intake capacity of 325 and elates with a faculty of fifteen members. The college offers three full-time degree programmes: B.ED, M.ED and B.ED Special Education in Learning Disability offering programme relevant to the varying educational and teaching demands.
BCM College of Education owns different facilities with the aim of improving the learning environment of its learners. Hauzah has a modern/comprehensive library with a strength of 13437 text/reference books, 35 research journals, and 194 volumes of encyclopedia to meet the requirements of the academic field. Current IT facilities such as multimedia computer laboratory equipped with fifty interconnecting PC, printers, scanners, and internet connection provides them the feel of modern teaching learning technologies. Main practical practicals include Educational Technology Lab, Science Lab, Language Lab and Psychology Lab. Extra curriculum activities include sports facility and an excellent gymnasium provided by the College. A centrally air conditioned hall of seating capacity of 1000 is available for organising large meetings and other programmes.
At present, BCM College of Education has only three full-time courses offerings and all are regular courses. Most number of seats are available in B.Ed programme with 150 seats and second largest number of seats are available in M.Ed with 50 seats and third largest number of seats are available for B.Ed Special Education in Learning Disability with 30 seats. This means that a total of 230 students are offered an opportunity to study through all the programmes that the institution offers.
The admission policies within BCM College of Education requires that it follows the set rules and regulation of Panjab University and the Punjab Government. Admission to the B.Ed programme is merit based depending on the marks scored in the qualifying examination. The procedure of admission in the M.Ed programme is also similar, admission will be open through merit of the qualifying examination, entrance examination or any other method as per government/university norms.
