BDSL Mahila College, Ghatsila, was set up in 1982, and is a constituent college for women in the state of Jharkhand, East Singhbhum. This affiliated college is located in a small area of 2.23 acres and aims to deliver better education to the female students. It has a consolidated enrolment of 1,103 students and a faculty of 11 members, The college promotes individual attention to the students. BDSL Mahila College offers 11 courses in one four degree programmes, mostly in arts and commerce streams. This is evident by the institution offering many specialisations in its programme such as; Political Science, History, Santali, Hindi, English, Economics, Psychology and the like.

BDSL Mahila College has a number of assets intended for the improvement of the learning process of its students. Two healthy and spacious hostels exist to accommodate the outstation students with wardens to tend for them. A college library has more than three thousand books in its collection for syllabus and other reference purposes for the students. In the area of practice, the institution has got departmental laboratories and a computer laboratory with 10 Computers for vocational training. There is internet connection on the campus with a 2 Mpbs broadband connection with wifi repeaters placed all over ensuring that students and faculty can get access to the internet resources as they may be required.

There are total 11 courses offered in BDSL Mahila College and all the programmes offered are full-time only. The college mainly accentuates on B.A Hons. courses in different stream along with B.Com courses. The total number of students per course is 111, and the colleges’ ability to enroll a large number of potential female students is seen from the total enrolment of 1,103.
