BGS College of Education, Shringeri was started in the year 2007 as an affiliated College which is situated in Chickmagalur, Karnataka. This institution is recognised by the NCTE- National Council for Teacher Education and offers only teacher education programmes. BGS College of Education is a college occupying a total land area of 1.9891 acres of land which creates a niche learning institution. At present, the college has a total of ninety-three students with 9 special faculty members to teach and help the children, and therefore the strength of the college is that has an ideal student teacher ratio which promotes greater learning.

BGS College of Education possess strategic amenities to complement and improve the studying environment of the students. The library is the intellectual resource centre of the school and contains a large numbers of encyclopedias, journals, magazines, and reference books vital for education plan and learning. Besides, for practical lessons, the institution has equipped and spacious laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Psychology in order to let students catch the experiencing lessons. The college also appreciates the advance technological learning standards which can be availed through a computer laboratory with internet facilities to make sure that students are in touch with technological learning instruments. To maintain physical development, we have sports facilities. The college provides an auditorium which is used for various events such as seminars promoting the colleges academic activity.

BGS College of Education provides two courses in education field. The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) which is a two-year full-time course with an approved student intake of one hundred students. In addition, the college offers Diploma in Education (D.Ed) a two year, full time course with an intake capacity of fifty students. These programmes are intended to prepare students for the professional challenges in different levels and aspects of learning institutions and facilities.

At BGS College of Education, admissions are done on merit basis and apart from this there is an entrance examination score that is also taken into consideration. Admissions to the college are made as per the policies governing admission laid down by the state government, Union Territory administration, and the university with which the college is affiliated to. This makes the process clear and competitive for the qualified candidates. The college offers hostel accommodation for boys as well as girls to help out station students get a relaxed environment to study. Besides offering healthy food to its students, these hostels have common study area, prayer tower and yoga sessions, etc, that help the students in their overall development.
