Bhairab Ganguly College was established in the year 1968 and is one of the leading institutions in Kolkata, West Bengal. The college is an affiliated college and spreads across the college-campus area of 8.33 acres and offers an ensemble of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The college offers an ideal setting for realising the dimension of academic growth through a total student enrolment of 3,390 and faculty strength of 79 members. Bhairab Ganguly College has received accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council with 30 courses in 9 degrees, out of which the majority of the courses belong to the domain of Arts, Science, and Commerce. The college has an almost equal male: female ratio, with 48% males and 52% females, and strong undergraduate and postgraduate focus with 95% and 5% students, respectively, in these classes.

Bhairab Ganguly College is also provided with a host of modern facilities to support the academic and personal growth of its students. With an area of 3,700 square feet, the Central Library serves as the mainstay of academic activities within the institution. It comprises a reading room that accommodates 60 readers, modern IT applications, and a computerised system facilitated by KOHA library management software. The institutions also have well-equipped laboratories, especially Chemistry, with modern instruments and a wide range of chemicals to stock. In the case of extracurricular activities, it has an auditorium called Alapan, which can accommodate 400 audiences, and a large playground with good conditions for any state-level tournament. The campus is Wi-Fi-enabled, hence providing an easy portal to online resources for both students and teachers. Besides, the canteen, medical facilities, and air-conditioned 12-station gymnasium are available for the needs of the students.

Bhairab Ganguly College offers a wide variety of academic courses; it has 30 courses, both full-time undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses. Undergraduate courses are stretched across Arts, Science, and Commerce in Honours courses like Computer Science, English, Bengali, Physics, and Economics. At the postgraduate level, it offers MA and M.Com. The graduation rate of the college remained uniform over the years.
