Bharathiyar Arts and Science College for Women, Salem, was founded in the year 1997 in Deviyakurichi, Tamil Nadu and is one of the pioneering women’s institutions in the country. This affiliated college, accredited by the NAAC, provides 35 courses spread through 10 degree programmes. The college spans 10.51 Acres and has total students of 3346 and faculty of 115. The institute is one of the premier centres of education that has a wide range of courses in Arts, Science and Business but exclusively for women. Approximately 85 percent of all students enroled at the college are enroled in undergraduate programmes, and fifteen percent are in postgraduate education, thus continuing the college’s focus on women’s higher education.

Bharathiyar Arts and Science College for Women offer a broad range of amenities which are aimed at improving the learning process of the students. The campus provides a library holding more than 20950 books, 62 journals and 52 magazines, and information and computer technology. The facilities include a range of facilities ranging from an information technology facility that caters to computer and other forms of learning and the 3000 seater Mother Teresa Auditorium that hosts cultural events and formal assemblies. The school provides a hostel for accommodation as there is a girls’ hostel in the school with the capacity to house 600 students. Other facilities include a cafeteria, bus services for 48 routes, practical and demonstration rooms, a gym and an adequate health facility that comes with a first aid section.

This college is recognised for providing a vast range of disciplinary studies consisting of 24 undergraduate, 7 postgraduate and 4 research programmes. It offers 35 full time courses in conventional subjects offered at standard college level including Tamil, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Commerce, and more. The institute remains highly sensitive to the education of women that enrols only women, at different levels of study. The subjects offered include BCA, B.Com, M.Com, BA in Tamil and  History , B.Lit Tamil, B.Sc in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Botany, Statistics, and so on, M.Sc in chemistry and Zoology, BBA and more.
