With the seed planted in year 2003, Bhartiya College of Education a premier college in education is situated at Industrial Estate, Dhar Road, Udhampur of Jammu and Kashmir. This co-educational affiliated college is NAAC accredited which speaks volume about the quality education it focuses on. The college is campus situated on an acre of land and, as at this financial year, it registered 357 students for various college programs. Bhartiya College of Education serves the purpose of teachers training with a total of 21 teaching faculty members on its panel. There are three focused programs in education given at the institution, and targets both undergraduates as well as postgraduates.

At present, Bhartiya College of Education is providing its students three regular courses in the sphere of education. These are B.Ed programme which constitutes 150 seats and Master of Education (M.Ed) programme which conducts 50 seats and an integrated BA B.Ed programme which has 50 seats. The college has a total students capacity which is spread over all the various courses offered currently stands 250, meaning that the college prides in itself in ensuring that it offers quality education through the control of students per class. These programmes are planned to provide the students with adequate knowledge and skills as to enable them to practice in the field of education at the school level or college level.

The admission procedure at Bhartiya College of Education differs from one course to the other. For candidates seeking admission to the B.Ed Programme the eligibility criteria is academic performance of the qualifying examination or as spelt by the enabling act. The M.Ed programme has an entrance test in addition to academic merit from the qualifying examination formed a part of passing the programme. Under the integrated BA B.Ed programme, marks obtained in a qualifying examination and an entrance examination or any other process as decided by the State Government, University or UT Administration while formulating policies are taken into consideration. For the BA B.Ed program prospective students must know that at the entry level they need to express their subject interests and selective teaching preferences.
