The Bir Lachit Borphukan College, Sivasagar, is one of the premier co-educational institutions in central Assam, India. The college provides undergraduate courses in arts stream as well as a postgraduate diploma course. Bir Lachit Borphukan College is affiliated to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and is recognized for its high standard of education and an open admission policy. The admission procedure prevalent in Bir Lachit Borphukan College is, by and large, participatory, inclusive, and merit-based. 

Ordinarily, the admission of the college for the new session would start only a few months prior to the commencement of classes. Interested candidates are generally supposed to apply along with relevant documents in support of his academic credentials according to the application form in force.  Candidates apply for undergraduate courses with fulfillment of 10 +2 or equivalent examinations from any recognized board.

The application procedures for Bir Lachit Borphukan College, Sivasagar, are as follows:

2. Obtaining Admission Information: Interested candidates may obtain application forms from the college office or download them from the official website of the college if such a provision is available. 

3. Filling up Application Form: Candidates must fill the application form correctly with relevant personal particulars and educational background.

4. Submission of Documents: Along with the completed application form, the applicant must submit a set of documentary evidence which includes:

• Marksheets of 10th and 12th standard examinations.
• Pass certificates of 10th and 12th standard.
• Character certificate from the last attended institution.
• Transfer certificate (if applicable).
• Caste certificate (for reserved category students).

BA Programs: The college has several BA programs in various disciplines. These are:

Candidates seeking admission into any of the BA programs are to have scored an overall pass in the 10+2 examinations in arts or in any other stream equivalent to that from a recognized Board. The eligibility for this program and subsequent admission processes rests only on the merit list prepared as per the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

PGDCA (Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Applications): This is the only postgraduate diploma program of the college. An applicant for the PGDCA program should have completed his/her Bachelor's degree from a recognized institute. The admission may depend on consideration of merit based on graduation marks and/or an entrance test/interview, although not much detail is available.
