Birendranath Sasmal Primary Teachers Training Institute is well established located in Purba Medinipur, West Bengal to train the future educators. Founded in 2012, this college is co-educational and has become a key provider for the training of teachers within its few years of operation. The institute is a small campus stationed at about one acre, and it currently enrolment about 300 students. The institute consists of a faculty of 25 teachers with years of experience to provide the best quality education to the students along with making student-teacher ratio ratio favorable. The institute is recognized by the relevant education authorities and has the bar code approval from National Council for Teacher Education –NCTE thus ensure that the institution has high standards as far as education is concerned .

PTTI run by Birendranath Sasmal is offering two regular courses, one at secondary level and another at primary level with regard to teacher education. Total intake of the institute is 150 seats for all the programmes offered in the institute. While the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course offered with 100 seats teaches one for secondary schools, the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) course offered with 50 seats is designed for primary teachers. Both programmes are intended to prepare students for an effective teaching profession with the help of skills and knowledge gained during the classes. The fact that most of these courses take two years ensures that students get adequate preparation to face the tough realities in the field of education.

To provide transparency in the admission process Birendranath Sasmal Primary Teachers Training Institute follows the merit based admission process. In both the cases of B.Ed and D.El.Ed courses, the admission means are merit in the qualifying examination and/or performance in an Entrance Test.
