BR College of Education, Guntur Admission Process

BR College of Education, Guntur, is one of the premier institutions for teacher education programs. The college has embraced a well-structured admission process for enrolling qualified candidates into its varied programs on offer. The college is located in Edulapalem Village, Prathipadu Mandal, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, and it is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and offers its programs under NCTE norms. The actual admission process of BR College of Education is based more on merit with respect to marks in qualifying examination and/or entrance examination.  Admissions are normally advertised to commence a few months before the beginning of the academic session every year.

Eligibility differs according to the nature of the program. The B.Ed. program requires that an applicant possess a Bachelor's Degree along with a Master's Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Humanity or hold a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology with 55% marks and above. The D.El.Ed. program needs candidates to have passed 10+2 or any other examination deemed equivalent with 50% marks or so.

Admission Process

The admission process at BR College of Education, Guntur, comprises a number of steps:

1. Admission Advertisement: Starting with announcing admission for the session on its official website and media.

2. Application Form: Interested candidates obtain and fill out the application form, which may be available online on the college website or physically from the college office.

3. Submission of Documents: Thereafter, along with the application, the applicant should submit a set of related documents which includes:

  • Passport-size photographs
  • Mark sheets of qualifying examinations (10+2 for D.El.Ed., Bachelor's and Master's degree for B.Ed.)
  • Valid ID
  • Caste certificate (if required)
  • Other details as per instructions of the college or the regulatory authorities.

4. Application Fees: Applicants are required to pay some amount towards the application fees. The exact amount and mode of payment will be announced through the college.

5. Entrance Exam: Although an entrance examination conducted by the college is not applicable, some candidate's participation in state-level or national-level entrance examinations for teacher education programs is obligatory as per government and university guidelines.

6. Merit List: The college generates a merit list correlating to marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination, along the lines of the selection process as per state government and university policies.

7. Document Verification: Some shortlisted candidates are called for document verification. Original documents need to be produced for scrutiny.

8. Admission Confirmation: Once documents are verified successfully and the candidate has made the payment of requisite fees, the admission is granted.

9. Orientation: Generally, students accepted are required to attend an orientation at the beginning of the academic session.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education): BR College of Education offers a two-year full-time B.Ed program constituting 100 seats as the maximum intake. The admission process for B.Ed is merit-based considering marks in the qualifying examination and/or in the entrance examination. This selection follows the policy of the state government/UT Administration and of the affiliated university. Eligible candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Humanity or a Bachelor's in Engineering or Technology with not less than 55% marks.

D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education): The D.El.Ed program, which is for two years, is also available at the college with 100 seats. Admission to the course is also on merit determined by marks received in the qualifying examination and, where relevant, the entrance examination. The selection procedure follows the state's UT Administration policy. The D.El.Ed eligibility criterion is a 10+2 or any other examination recognized as equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks.
