Burhani College was established in the year 1970 at Mazgaon, which is at the very centre of Mumbai. This affiliated college is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council—the NAAC—thus clearly reflecting the quality of education here. In its small 0.75-acre campus, Burhani College offers a varied selection of 8 courses under 5 degree programmes for a student population of 1,350. It has a well-balanced student body, wherein 93% are undergraduate students while 7% are postgraduate students. More surprisingly, it only has a strength of 11 faculty members who provide their devoted services, hence giving individual attention to the students.

Burhani College proudly boasts a contemporary and fully equipped campus so as to enhance the learning experience for its students. At the center of these facilities is a well-stocked library with over 4,000 textbooks, about 26,000 reference books, including 79 rare volumes, and 18 journals. This has formed the keystone to academic pursuits here. The institution also has excellent information technology infrastructure to provide students with access to the best technologies for their studies. A well-equipped, WiFi-enabled auditorium is provided for conducting seminars, guest lectures, and meetings that help to enhance an atmosphere of intellectual discussion. A well-maintained canteen with a variety of appetising food and beverages is available for students' convenience. The health of the student is of prime concern for the college. An infirmary is well-equipped for first-aid; in times of emergency, the Prince Aly Khan Hospital, which is nearby, readily provides additional support.

Burhani College has an array of academic courses to suit different interests of students. This institution also offers courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels besides a doctoral programme. Some of the undergraduate courses offered are the Bachelor of Management Studies, Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia and Mass Communications, and Bachelor of Commerce. The college offers, at the postgraduate level, Master of Commerce (M.Com) with specialisations in Business Management and Advanced Accountancy. There is also a Ph.D. programme in Commerce for the students interested in taking up research. The college lays great emphasis on full-time education since all the programmes available are only in this mode. The M.Com Business Management is approved for an intake of 80 seats and the M.Com Advanced Accountancy has 60 seats.
