Cauvery Polytechnic, Gonikoppal located at Virajpet Taluk- South Coorg- Karnataka was established in the year 1986-87 and it came into existence for aspiring Technical education. This affiliated college approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) provides better education in engineering branches. The polytechnic occupies a vast area of 14.65 acres with an overall student enrollment capacity of 209 and a team of 13 faculty members. The diploma awards offered by Cauvery Polytechnic are three three-year full time programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

The institute boasts of having made available a number of facilities that help add value to the student's learning process. The campus has different hostels for boys and girls; the facilities that are available include, spacious and well-furnished rooms, mess and playgrounds. This college library has a collection of 10000 books and 20 technical newspapers, journals Magazines in different languages. It is still open to students from Monday to Saturday so that the spirits of learning and research are kept on alive.
