The center for Research on New International Economic Order was set up in 1979 is recognized as one of the premier research organization in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This affiliated college provides postgraduate education and training in economics and allied social sciences. Université CRNEO provides variety of academic programs, 7 courses at the 3 levels of studies, with specialization on doctoral and post graduate studies. The specialty of offerings in Economics, History, Sociology, Education, etc. towards producing aspiring researchers and academicians has always been the credo of the institute towards merit.

CRNEO has a range of facilities available to serving the learners and the overall mission of a university. Out of all the research facilities, the college library can be effectively considered to be a pillar of its library services. The Doshisha Economics Library aims at housing thousands of books on Economics, Developmental Economics, Environmental Economics, Ecology, Women Studies, Tribal and Dalit Studies and other related topics for the use of faculty, research scholars and students of the Doshisha Economics Department. 

The reference section supplemented by a comfortable reading section adds the more to the entire experience of research done. Furthermore, standard scientific journals found in the library meet various specialized interests of the CRNEO community of scholars. The institute also offers very good information technology support technology that enhance students’ access to key information technologies that are important for the modern research approach. Details about these facilities are scarce, however; CRNEO currently sustains departmental laboratories for practical mentorship and research. Also for well-rounded schooling and training the college provides sporting grounds for the physical aspects of the lives of the learners apart from the academic aspects.

For this reason, CRNEO has designed its academic programs to foster the development of sophisticated research capabilities and expertise. The institute currently offers a total of 7 courses and mainly offers full time doctorate as well as postgraduate program. Among them are Ph.D. programs in Economics, and duration of study, History, Sociology and Education, all lasting 2 years. For those who want to have an intermediate research experience then CRNEO has an M.Phil in Economics programme, a two year full time programme. Besides, the institute also offers a more specialized one-year full-time Diploma in Rural Development and Management as the need to have specialized skills in the rural development sectors. 

The admission to the CRNEO is defined to enroll students with the highest academic performance and potentially interesting for research. Owing to the fact that most of the programs are research based, candidates may be expected to provide research proposals, and go through interviews during the admission process.
