The government of India (GOI) set up the Central Institute of Hand Tools (CIHT) Jalandhar as a National Institute in Jalandhar (Punjab) an autonomous organization with the assistance of the UNDP and Govt. of Punjab in the year 1983, to provide trained manpower and technology support services to engineering industry.
