Imphal’s CIPET or the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology is specialized institute with purely Petrochemicals Engineering education. Founded in 1988, this is a Government of India recognised institute; situated in Takyelpat Industrial Estate, Imphal, Manipur. CIPET Imphal occupies a small area of 3 acres of land and provides appropriate environment for the students to study the subject of plastics and petrochemical engineering. At the present time, we enrolled a total student population of one hundred ninety, while the faculty consists of only 10 members. CIPET Imphal offers three diploma and Post Graduate diploma Courses to cater the requirement of the industry and it is full time course.
The CIPET Imphal is equipped with number of amenities and infrastructures that have been put in place with an aim of achieving the best result from the students. The institute has arrangements for both boys and girls hostels.The boys hostels has a facility of 150 beds while the girls hostels has the accommodation facility of 60 students. A two storey library, which was recently established, contains 1094 books in 910 different volumes so the students have facilities of new building and proper reading resources to do studies.
The learning environment covers the corridors of ultra-modern IT infrastructure that enable the students to interact with the best knowledge producing tools in their learning areas. Consequently, there are specialized laboratories that meet more of the practical nature of the courses provided; in the case of petrochemicals engineering this is particularly so since the hands-on aspect is very touching. Organisations and activities outside the classroom are facilitated by the institute through an available auditorium, physical facilities for games and a gym. CIPET operates a cafeteria on its campus for providing food to the students and the staff A health center having first aid facilities caters to the health needs of other individuals of the campus.
A total of three full-time courses are presented by CIPET Imphal, and all of them are regular programs aimed at imparting thorough understanding of petrochemicals engineering. Currently, the academic programmes at the institute at certificate, diploma and post – diploma level, which located in four categories consisting of two diploma programmes and one post graduate diploma programme. The total intake to all the courses permitted for the current academic year is 108, essentially to keep a healthy ratio of student and faculty, and to accord a qualitative education to the students. Specific graduation data of the latest year is missing but the total enrollment of the institute is equal to its intake capacity is 190 this means that the institute has consistent demand for their specialized programs.
CIPET Imphal admission process are aimed at enlisting students good at petrochemical engineering forte. The institute has a standard admission procedure that students sit for the CIPET Joint Entrance Examination (CIPET JEE) which is a national examination focused on testing Knowledge and skill set of the candidate in the field. Degree wise Admission Process
Diploma in Plastics Technology: This program has an approved intake of 54 students. Admission is based on the candidate's performance in the CIPET JEE. Eligibility typically includes completion of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects.
Diploma in Plastics Mould Technology: With a sanctioned strength of 18 students, this specialized diploma course also calls for candidates to qualify through the CIPET JEE. The eligibility is the same as for the Diploma in Plastics Technology.
PGD Plastics Processing and Testing: This post-graduate diploma course has the approved intake capacity of 36 students. Admission would probably be given on the basis of the CIPET JEE scores, with extra weightage also being assigned on the basis of the candidate's undergraduate performance in a related subject.
