Centre for Computer Science and Applications was set up in 2004 as a component of Dibrugarh University, situated in Dibrugarh, Assam. This unique centre is to offer quality education in information technology and application. Approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the centre offers three full-time courses: MCA (Master of Computer Applications), BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications), and PGDCA (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications). In the current and future world of technology, the centre will provide over 210 seats in these programmes to polish talented individuals.
Centre for Computer Science and Applications upholds the best student learning environment in its institution. The institute provides few main amenities to the changes in the educational process. For computer science and applications, the college library plays a very crucial role in offering different prints and electronic sources such as books and journals. To support theoretical learning, the centre has well-equipped laboratories so that students can practice on the most up-to-date software and hardware technology. Knowing the significance of passing through technology in contemporary society, they have put in place good information technology facilities to provide improved computing facilities and internet connections to the students.
Much as earlier mentioned, the centre provides a wide assortment of courses based on the education level of computer science. The three programmes—MCA, BCA, and PGDCA—have been planned to fill students’ requirements and the industries’ needs. The course of study for this programme is two years; currently it enrols 30 students, and the programme is called Master of Computer Applications (MCA). A three-year undergraduate degree programme, Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), has an intake capacity of 60. For the candidates looking for postgraduate programmes in information technology with less duration, then the Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA), which is a one-year programme and had at most 120 students. Therefore, this diverse offering enables the students to select the programme of their preference depending on their career foresight and their academic type.

The mode of entry for the Centre for Computer Science and Applications may also differ with programme. For the MCA programme, only the candidates who have passed the entrance test are considered because the candidates need to have adequate aptitude to complete the course in advanced computer applications.
