Cheran Polytechnic College is a self financing college situated in Namakkal, Tamilnadu to deliver quality technical education. This affiliated college has been established in the year 2011 and has a place of its own in the scene of polytechnic education. Located in a thirty four acre campus, Cheran Polytechnic College provides a variety of diploma courses that are AICTE approved. The total number of students is 205 while the faculty members at the college are 40 thus guaranteeing a student-faculty ratio of 5:1. There are five diploma courses that is delivered at the institution and they are presented in such a way that it equips the students with both practical exposure and knowledge in the area of specialty they desire to pursue.

Cheran Polytechnic College has all the necessary facilities that compliment campus learning and some of them are as follows. There are well furnished hostels for boys as well as for girls, which are separately available for the out-station students. There are many buses which ply within the town and the campus. The college has proper sporting facilities needed for volleyball, basketball, cricket etc that lovers of sports can enjoy. Another area that the college boasts is its success level of students in district, state level competitions. An auditorium provides a space for college events and seminars and contributes to the improvement of students’ life. Central to all academic collection services is the college library which has in its collection over 15,575 volumes and nearly 1,600 titles with variety of subject specialisations. The students are also able to access good laboratory facilities, computer centre with internet facility, and a dining hall which is also a students centre.

In total, the college provides five full-time diploma courses which take three years each to complete. Most of these programmes are available in different specialisations in engineering and technology and thereby expand student’s career outlook. The approved intake for all the courses at once is 300 with 60 students for each programme. The courses offered are Diploma in Fire and Safety Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Electronics and Agricultural Technology.

The polytechnic colleges admit students on the performance of the relevant state level entrance test/marks scored in 10th standard.
