Characteristics The College of Agricultural Technology, Theni (CAT Theni) is one of the leading colleges of agricultural technology in the Tamil Nadu, India. This affiliated college of the university was introduced only in 2010; however, it is already considered to be one of the centers of agricultural studies. Situated in Kullapuram Post, Theni district Tamil Nadu, this college has 200 acer farm land which will give practical learning to the students. Theni is offering B.Tech Agriculture course under Tamil Nadu Agriculture University and approved by ICAR which makes the college more standard in providing agricultural education. The college takes an overall of 384 students every year and has the strength of 29 faculty members, which gives an excellent student faculty ratio of 13:01.

CAT Theni has hosted many facilities on its premises to supplement the learning of its students. It possesses adequate and well equipped laboratories for the practical teaching and Research work. As for the students, there are different hostels for male and female students ,respectively. The library is a valuable treasure, equipped with various numbers of books and journals, and other research materials, and instrument to suit the need of student and faculty. It also takes the health of students to a college level with the college has a medical facility that deals in first aid and basic treatment. CAT Theni is aware of the fact that the digital age was fast approaching and as part of absorbing this reality the institution has equipped the students with excellent IT facilities.

The college offers two comprehensive four-year undergraduate programs: B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons) and B.Sc. Horticulture (Hons). These are both full-time courses aimed at offering the learners profound understanding of the tasks in their chosen disciplines. The total enrollment for all these programs combined is 384 and this depicts our determined effort to ensure that the college upholds quality education with restricted enrollment sizes. Although current data on the graduation rate for the latest year has been provided , the college provides practical education coupled with industry relevant curriculum hence ensuring that the students who complete their studies from the college find suitable jobs in the agricultural sector.

CAT Theni focuses on bringing up professional human beings in the specialty of agriculture. The college supports co curricular activities through NSS and NCC and also art and craft. These activities are extracurricular they supplement and enhance the academic program by teaching the students leadership and being socially responsible. The college also has a Training and Placement Cell through which students seeking placements are placed directly from college in the companies. However, it is difficult to obtain the precise scholar ship information, and college’s prominent alumni/ unpacked; still, the concentration of delivering quality education along with necessary practical training helps the college’s alumni set profound and long-standing career in the agriculture department.
