College of Agriculture, Bhilwara, set up in 2013, is one of the constituent Colleges at Jambeshwar Nagar, Suwana, Agarpura, Bhilwara, Rajasthan. This institution is dedicated to agricultural education and training and has only one course leading to the award of B.Sc Agriculture (Hons). The college occupies a large piece of land of 21.3 acres in size and includes the actual land for agricultural programmes. Currently, with a faculty strength of 9 members, the college is working hard towards imparting quality education in the agricultural area. This is an important academic centre of learning engaged in the teaching of agricultural sciences hence is a perfect place for all those intending to study agronomy and other related fields in the region.
The College of Agriculture, Bhilwara, has several infrastructural facilities to facilitate its academic mandate. The college library has more than 1,800 text and reference collections of books from different fields of agriculture. These resources are open to all students making it easy for students to access them as they assimilate knowledge. Through the interviews it was observed that the college administration is really striving hard to grow libraries and incorporating digital techniques through E-Books and library software. The importance of this objective is to increase the availability of students with agricultural literature and various research materials. Further, College of Agriculture, Bhilwara has adopted and enhanced various IT solutions in learning processes that are more modern today. There is a computer Lab in the college with 13 sitting capacities Internet facility provided for both staff and students to support research and learning purposes and to explore agricultural information on the net.
In terms of academic offerings, the College of Agriculture, Bhilwara, currently provides one full-time course: B.Sc Agriculture (Hons). This is a four-year programme that students undertake with the main aim of providing student’s knowledge of agricultural science and practice. Currently the college has been given an approval for taking only 72 students for this programme, although it may take as many as students it wants because the college deserves to train and produce professionals in this field for every student enrolled, the management of the college proceeds with moderation taking 72 students at a time for this programme. The above a specialised approach helps the institution to focus on its major areas of specialities of offering quality education on agricultural sciences.
In the case of taking admission in the B.Sc Agriculture (Hons) programme offered at the College of Agriculture, Bhilwara, it is aimed at the students clearing a Joint Entrance Test (JET) that is conducted by the university. This means that students with the most passion and relevant qualifications are only selected to proceed with the programme. The JET exam is important, especially for any of the aspiring students who wish to study agriculture at this institution.
