About College of Agriculture, Dharwad

The College of Agriculture, Dharwad was established in 1947 located at Dharwad is one of the constituent College of University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. It is a well-renowned agricultural university situated in Karnataka, India and it was formed more than seven decades earlier. The college recognized by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research, ICAR is one of the finest, which provides vast numbers of courses in various fields of agriculture. The college currently admits 2,005 students apart from having a faculty member of 88, thus creating a conducive atmosphere for students who wishes to become agriculturists.

The campus as a whole has good infrastructure in terms of academic and administrative facilities accompanied by proper infrastructure facilities for students. College has total 33 Laboratories among those 14 laboratories are specially for post graduate students and all Laboratories are equipped with modern apparatus for experimentation ans study. The new addition to the facilities is the Department of Biotechnology equipped with highly developed Molecular and Biotechnology Research Work. College library is the place that contains a lot of information starting from agricultural books to agricultural literature and online resources.

Such student facilities as hostels are provided separately for male and female college students. Boys hostels currently boasts of four blocks for undergraduate students and two blocks for postgraduate students respectively, the girls hostel could hold approximately 200 students. All facilities featuring in the hostels include comfortable cots, work tables as well as shelves in the various rooms. The modern dining halls which have been put up with the hostels include TV rooms, reading rooms and hi tech solar water heaters for hot water supply.

The College of Agriculture located at Dharwad is well equipped with Numerous courses at Under-graduate, Post Graduate and Doctorate level. Currently, the institute is offering 34 courses under six degree programs; undergraduate, postgraduate, and Doctorate programs. 

The proposed system would also enthral the admissions process in the College of Agriculture, Dharwad, which selects candidates for promising future in the field of agriculture.  It is the co-educational institute that has more numbers of boys and girls students to maintain the proper sex ratio.

At the College of Agriculture, Dharwad, it is hoped that the admission processes will foster the selection of talented and deserving students for its diversity of programs in agricultural sciences. Admission to the college usually begins prior to the commencement of the academic year, which is generally in the months of August-September. The courses offered are undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral-the admission procedures of all three levels are defined by distinct criteria.

Any candidate for admission at the undergraduate level should have gone through 10 + 2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. The selection process may include entrance tests, academic records from qualifying exams, and other criteria set by the university or respective regulatory bodies like ICAR. For Post-graduate and Doctoral Courses, admission typically requires candidates to have completed a bachelor's degree in agriculture or related physical fields. Degree wise Admission Process

B.Sc Agriculture (Hons): This flagship undergraduate program offered by the college for around four years includes admission based on the qualifying exam (10+2) with a state level/national level entrance exam.

B.Sc Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation: A specialized degree focusing on commerce aspects of agriculture, admission criteria are more or less similar to those of the B.Sc Agriculture (Hons) program, with emphasis on the candidates' aptitude for agricultural economics and marketing.

B.Tech Food Technology: This degrees combine agricultural science and food processing technology. Admission most probably would depend on performance in 10+2 with subjects in PCM and may comprise an entrance examination concentrating on basic sciences and an aptitude test for food technology.

M.Sc Agriculture: The college offers very many specialized courses under M.Sc Agriculture, some of them being Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Economics, Entomology, Extension Education, etc. The admission to these two-year programs is usually based on eligibility of bachelor degree in agriculture or related field, entrance examination and possibly an interview.

MBA Programs: The college runs several MBA programs in agricultural specializations such as Plant Biochemistry, Agribusiness Management, and Agricultural Economics. These programs are typically based on the bachelor degree in agriculture or related place followed by entrance exam followed by personal interview if needed.

Ph.D. Programs: Doctoral programs are available for students in several agricultural fields. Admission into such programs generally should possess a master's degree in the respective field, followed by an entrance examination, interview, and research proposal evaluation.

Agriculture BSc Eligibility Requirements

  1. Students who want to enrol in the BSc agricultural programme must pass the 10+2 exam or a test that is similar.
