The College of Agriculture, Hassan, a constituent college of the University, is located at Karekere, Hassan started in the year 2006. The 184-acre spread co-education institution is approved by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR). Currently, the college has a rich list of agricultural and biotechnology programmes with the total number of 4 courses in 3 degrees. The college currently has over 863 students and thirty faculty members that contribute to the ideal student teacher ratio, making it easy to deliver quality education. This as shown by the specialised programme offered by the institution such as B.Tech in Food Science and Technology, B.Sc in Agriculture Biotechnology, B.Sc Agriculture (Hons), and B.Tech in Biotechnology.

Offering quality academic programmes is Hassan College of Agriculture that equipped with state of art facilities for the students. The campus is comprised of research and teaching facilities such as agricultural chemistry laboratory for testing plant and soil samples, and a plant pathology laboratory complete with a bio-safety containment unit and high magnifying microscopes. The college has over twenty thousand books in agriculture, allied disciplines, basic sciences, humanities, and special SC/ST Book Bank. To support the health needs of the college, the college provides a modern gymnasium and means for 19 kinds of sports and games. The campus also has boys and girls hostels which have common rooms, indoor games facilities and cafeteria. There exist different types of Hospital such as University Hospital offering medical services for 24/7 for students and staffs. The college has raised an central computer facility, with 50 computers connected to the internet for student’s awareness of technological development advanced in the area of agriculture.

The College of Agriculture, Hassan has a total number of four full time courses all of which gives student a pass through into agricultural sciences and biotechnology. These include functional Food Processing and Food Preservation as training offered in the B.Tech in Food Science and Technology programme. This programme, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Biotechnology, is therefore directed at the utilisation of biotechnology in agriculture. The B.Sc Agriculture (Hons) programme covers all the various dimensions related to the area of agriculture. Finally, the B.Tech in Biotechnology programme offers student’s information pertaining to biotechnological innovations in areas of agriculture and other related specialties. All these programmes are four-year full-time courses, thus the college remains true to its goal and reputation of delivering extensive and comprehensive education in agricultural sciences. 

The admission process for the College of Agriculture, Hassan, is intended at choosing able and interested students to enroll in different agricultural courses offered in the college.  It may be possible that this college also take part in the All India Entrance Examination for Agriculture (AIEEA) conducted by ICAR for admission to undergraduate programmes. Any student who wishes to enroll in this institution if they are to pursue agricultural education should put preparations in place and keep track of any dates and anything they may be required to produce.

The College is located near Karekere, at 19 Kms from Hassan on National Highway-48 (Bangalore-Mangalore) towards Bangalore. Hassan is a private institute. Hassan is well connected by road and train facilities. By recognizing the importance of agricultural education in rural areas, the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore has rightly selected Hassan as the ideal location to start Agricultural College. The district has varied agro-climatic conditions congenial for growing of various field as well as fruits and plantation crops.


Agricultural:-

Agriculture is an evergreen stream that is acknowledged worldwide. You can also do internships in countries like USA and Ireland while doing BSc agriculture. Working in the agricultural industry offers many diverse career opportunities where you can earn a substantial income.

BSc Agriculture is a four year Undergraduate course that primarily focuses on research and practices in agricultural science, dealing with disciplines like Genetics and Plant Breeding, Agricultural Microbiology, Soil Science, Plant Pathology, etc.From scientific and technical backgrounds to business and management, agriculture can provide a fulfilling career field to explore.


Placements:-

  1. In this college Placements are quiet good. Students will be given placements training from company called TCS. Which is a very good platform which students are utilizing this.
  2. The placement & job opportunities are good in Farm science course and we can eligible for both govt. & Pvt. Sectors jobs
  3. Students are assigned for internship in Agr. biotechnology related companies & institution. Such as IIts, Monsanto, ncbs, etc,.
  4. Provides good opportunities to the freshly graduates.
  5. Students are getting these trainings from 1st year itself.
  6. Companies are visited for hiring like TCS, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, NTT data, etc.
