The College of Agriculture, Sumerpur with its foundation in 2012 is a constituent college situated in Pali district, Rajasthan. This is a co-educational institution recognised by the ICAR is a specialised institution founded to provide education in the field of agricultural sciences. The college is located in a 50 acre of land The college was started couple of years ago and at present it has a total list of 196 students and total faculty members are 8. It offers one and only undergraduate programme, B.Sc Agriculture (Hons) and the institute benchmark has approved an admission of 60 students per annum. Because it is one of the constituent colleges, it has the responsibility of developing agricultural education and research in the region.
The College of Agriculture, Sumerpur, has several amenities to bid to improvement in the learning environment as well as the growth of its student population. The campus includes modern laboratories for practical lessons that enables student to gain practical feel of different aspect of agricultural sciences. A stock library plays an important reference center capable of providing all the necessary information in the traditional and digital media. They offer sports facility and gym where they engage student in their games and other activities to keep fit. To ensure that every aspect of the student’s life is effectively and adequately meet the institution has provided different hostels for both male and female students. It also has a campus clinic complete with a first aid equipment thereby making its students’ health secure. Also, a strong IT facility exists in the college to meet present day teaching and learning methodologies and research interventions. On the northern part of the campus is a cafeteria where students and members of staff take their snacks, meals and social breaks.
As for the range of programmes, the College of Agriculture, Sumerpur is known to offer its students the needed agricultural sciences. The institute currently has only one full-time programme: the B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons), a four-year programme. This programme intake is 60 students approved for the college thereby the favourable student teacher ratio and individual attention given to students. The curriculum aims at preparing the students to be equipped with good knowledge in different areas of agriculture for employment in agriculture related jobs or for admission into a more specialised course.
Admission process in the College of Agriculture, Sumerpur permits an able and passionate student in its B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons) course. The college has prescribed course performance in relevant subjects at the higher secondary level as one of the factors that it uses to determine the student’s admission.
