About College of Agriculture, Thiruvananthapuram

An old constituent college located in Vellayani, Kerala, was established the College of Agriculture in Thiruvananthapuram was established in 1955. This is an accredited institution by the Indian council for Agricultural Research recognised to offer numerous programmes in agriculture. In terms of enrollment the college offers admission to 969 students while it has 74 faculties, which offers a suitable atmosphere for agricultural learning and innovation. The institute has a total of 39 courses, at five different degrees: Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate in different disciplines of agriculture like Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Pathology, and Soil Science among others.

College of Agriculture, Thiruvananthapuram has other state-of-the-art facilities by which it can effectively support its academic programmes. The students are privy to well endowed laboratories, a fully stocked library with modern information technology resources. There are separate hostels for boys and girls’ students and thus providing them clean and comfortable accommodation. Under fine arts and sports, the college offers facilities for games and sports and an auditorium for cultural programmes and seminars. Medical care is offered through health services centre equipped with First Aid facilities on the campus. The college also has a canteen, and in-house living accommodations for visiting faculty and students’ family.

As far as the academic programmes are concerned, the College of Agriculture, Thiruvananthapuram do offer full- time cources in a wide spectrum. These are the B.Sc Agriculture (Hons) Degree programme, the various M.Sc specialisations such as fields namely Agricultural Agronomy, Plant Pathology, and Soil Science as well as Agricultural Chemistry and the Ph.D programmes in all the foregoing disciplines. The college also has a special 5 year integrated B.Sc-M.Sc Biotechnology programme as well as Diploma in Organic Agriculture.
