It is one of the constituent colleges of College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Haryana. The college came into existence in the year 1970 and has been serving the cause of agricultural sciences for a period of more than five decades. The institute's accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council underlines the quality of its educational services. It has a diversified student body of 287 enrolments supported by a faculty strength of 73.

The academic programme includes a large number of courses covering 10 M.Sc courses and 10 Ph.D programmes under the College of Basic Sciences and Humanities itself. The full-time courses range over a broad spectrum of Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Botany, Chemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Plant Physiology, Sociology, Statistics, Zoology, and Fisheries. All M.Sc. courses are normally of 2 years whereas Ph.D. courses extend up to a maximum of 6 years.
