The College of Computer Science & Information Technology – COCSIT Latur, was started in the year 2001 in Latur, Maharashtra, India. The college is a co-educational affiliated college that obtains NAAC accreditation affirming its adherence to quality education. Located on a 1.54 acre land area, COCSIT provides a variety of types of 12 programs spread over 5 degrees with specializations in computer science, information technology, and biotechnology. The college has total of 2294 students and a teaching staff of 42 teachers. The gender distribution shows the following; 67% male; 33% female in the undergraduate programs, while in the post graduate the distribution is 50-50. 

Aims and objectives COCSIT has well-equipped resource and infrastructure facilities that aid the student’s character and academic development. The college boasts of a good library where students can get almost all the educational material they would require. In addition to this, to enhance practical sessions COCSIT has centrally set up laboratory facilities for all departments. The campus boasts of up to date Information Technology to enable the students appreciate d technological development. Apart from the academic life, the college embraces and facilitate the holistic developmental the college has sporting colors and a gym. Concerning student welfare, like our neighbours COCSIT has provided hostel facilities for both male and female students, the female hostel can accommodate 240 inmates. Further, the campus provides canteen facilities for food services, an auditorium for celebrations and seminars and a separate health care centre for first aid etc. 

The college has a cultural palette of course offerings; its programs comprise 6 undergraduate and 6 postgraduate. The undergraduate courses include B.Sc. Computer science and IT, Software Engineering, Network and Telecommunication Technology, Biotechnology; BCA and BBA. In the postgraduate Course, COCSIT offers M.Sc. Computer Science, M.Sc. Software Engineering & System Administration & Networking, M.Sc. Computer Management & Biotechnology, and MBA. Every course offered at CAV offers full-time program, which aims at giving depth understanding on the content as well as skills on each course offered. Although, the precise blueprint of the student progression in each particular course is lacking; the total student population of the college is 2, 294; clearly, revealing the relative capacity of the college across all programs.

Very important in the admission process in COCSIT is merit and it follows the guideline and procedures of the affiliated university. Management quota seats are not available at the college for admissions. With all courses and programs, we admit students based on the pass mark attained in the previous qualifying exam. This transparency makes it possible that deserving candidates are given equal chance to enrol for their desired programs. Thus, it is recommended to follow the example and have no specific dates of examinations, nonetheless, the desire applicants should pay attention to the college website and the information in the admissions office more frequently considering the changes in the Application Deadlines and Procedures. It also provides scholarship where from the academic year 2021, total number of students benefitted from financial reimbursements at undergraduate level was 220 and at postgraduate level 52. It also reflects the college’s undertaking in provision of financial assistance so that quality education can be provided to any interested students.
