The College of Dairy Science and Technology came in to existence in 1993 as a constituent college of Kerala Established at Mannuthi Thrissur, Kerala. CDST is an integral part of the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and it has emerged as one of the premier centres in dairy education in recent years. The college is recognized by famous statutory organisations like All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR). CDST has a specialised faculty of eleven members, which offers post graduate programmes in dairy science and technology for dynamic dairy industry total 4 courses.

CDST also has basic infrastructures that facilitate learning in an appropriate atmosphere. The college library acts as a resource centre where students can obtain a large variety of learning resources in dairy science and related disciplines. Furthermore, practical facilities include having equipped laboratories by fields, which are important for practice and performing experiments necessary to improve educational processes and yourself. These facilities are very vital in trying to reduce the theory – practice divide in dairy operations.

The college has produced various courses to meet different qualifications in the dairy industry. Under graduate CDST offers a B.Tech. Programme in Dairy Technology with an intake of 60 students. Those who will want to be more specialised in dairy college will be able to take M.Tech in Dairy Microbiology, Dairy Chemistry, and Dairy Technology. There is a diverse offering of course, and this means that any specific interest any student has under the dairy science major will be catered for. Specifically the B.Tech Dairy Technology is a four year full time undergraduate program designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills as they are practiced in the modern day dairy industry.

Admission at the institution is competitive and is done in accordance to the student’s performance. The B.Tech Dairy Technology programme candidates through the Kerala Engineering Architecture & Medical Examination (KEAM) which affiliated by Government of Kerala. The advantages of this system form part of the program requirements and include the following; The college also considers B.Arch scores for some of its programmes to open up more avenues to prospective students.
