CEM Punnapra: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

College of Engineering and Management Punnapra (CEM Punnapra) started in the year 2008 with its campus located at Punnapra, Alappuzha district of Kerala. This affiliated college recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is located on a lush green 25 acres of land which provides a right ambience for education. CEM Punnapra stands midst as specialized institution in the field of imparting engineering education with a total enrolled strength of 709 and a committed team of 46 faculties. The college provides 8 programmes within three degree levels to meet changing demands in engineering specializations.

In our school College of Engineering and Management Punnapra children have access to many modern and highly sophisticated equipment that can improve their learning outcomes. The college has adequate facilities for practical purposes, a central library with over 10000 books and 1200 Malayalam books and publications and use of 2300 international e-journal publications. The facilities in IT include modern centralised computing facility with seventy computer systems and broad band of 2Mbps internet. Student with disability is also offered accommodation within the college in different hostels for boys and girls each having a maximum strength of one hundred and sixty students. Spectators get to enjoy college sports premises, besides the college has a canteen that provides students and staff with their desired dishes. It also has a health centre to station its first aid equipment and personnel to take care of everyone’s health.

CEM Punnapra provides various programmes in engineering in order to meet different pursuits. The college has instituted six B.Tech programmes, one M.Tech programme and Diploma course in order to offer the students »state-of-the-art« knowledge and skills. The B.Tech programmes are available in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering. In postgraduate levels, the college provides an M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. Also, specialized technical education can be obtained in Diploma in Communication and Computer Networking. As for these courses, the total approved intake has been set to 378 which also means that our college provides only quality education and does not aim at enrolling innumerably many students to one type of course while not being capable of controlling the quality of education we provide, and not being capable of ensuring that the students themselves would not complain about too many students in one class.

The methods for admission to CEM Punnapra are competent to keep the worthy students in a position of deserving candidates. For B.Tech programmes, 90% seats are through Merit Quota as per KEAM examination rank allotted by Commissioner of Entrance Exams, Kerala. Overall, there are 5% Management quota seats exclusively for children of employees of cooperative firms who also have to produce ranks in KEAM. The remaining 5% is allotted to the NRI quota where the admission is done strictly according to the rank list prepared by the college authority where the weightages of marks of Plus Two examination in Mathematics/Physics Chemistry/ Computer Science /Biotechnology/ Biology are considered. The college offers all the B.Tech courses based on the KEAM scores and therefore a significant number of students apply for engineering courses in Kerala.
