The College of Horticulture, Bagalkot was started in the year 2008-09 it is one of the constituent colleges of university rung horticulture EDUCATION & RESEARCH. The policy was started in Simikeri Cross, Udyanagiri, Bagalkot, Karnataka and the institute is a co-educational one that occupies a vast area of 100 acres of land. Affiliated to the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), the College of Horticulture is developed with multi-disciplinary courses related to horticulture and various allied fields. The total number of students in the college is 533 and the number of faculties is 41, so the college has a better facility for the student-teacher ratio. It provides 5 programmes to students at 2 degree levels of study focusing on different aspects of horticulture covering fruit science, landscape architecture and many more. 

The College of Horticulture, Bagalkot, offers a plethora of current establishment that has to do with the teaching and all-round personality development of students. The horticulture programme boasts of adequately furnished practical laboratories for skills in various branches of horticulture. An organized library makes up an important learning resource acting as a student’s one-stop source of learning materials. For physical fitness as well as recreation there is provision of sports facilities and a gym at the college. It also assembles different hostel facilities for boys and girls apart from out-station students to lead a comfortable life. An auditorium is provided for the carrying out of academic and cultural activities, and the IT network accommodates new learning methodologies. In taking care of student’s welfare, the college has a health centre that provides first aid services. Accommodation and eating facilities such as canteen and guest house enhance the comfort of learners hence enhancing their education mostly when it is one campus accommodation, it completes the [education] circle.

The courses being offered in the College of Horticulture Bagalkot, are designed to cater for the present-day needs of the horticulture sector. The institution offers an aggregate of 5 full-time programmes out of which 2 are undergraduate and 3 postgraduate programmes. At an undergraduate level, it has a 4-year B.Sc. in Horticulture so that students have the right knowledge of the subject and the faculty. The postgraduate programmes include four specialized 2-year M.Sc. courses: Vegetable science, plantation spices – medicinal and aromatic crops, fruit science, and floriculture and landscape architecture. These programmes have the educational goal of preparing trained, skilled professionals and researchers in certain sub-fields of horticulture. The total student enrollment intake capacity of the college is 533, which ensures quality education is provided when taking in large numbers of aspiring horticulturists.
