The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences is located at Kottayam and was set up in 1974, and being a one of the oldest and premier institutions in the state of Kerala imparting education in pharmaceutical field. Affiliated to the KPSC, Kottayam this college set in Gandhi Nagar is paving the path for pharmacy education for almost five decades now. Situated on a small 2.5 acre plot, the institute is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICT), and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) for maintaining a high standard of education to meet the market requirements. It has a current population of 284 students and nineteen faculty members, thus giving the college a concentration educative curriculum. The institution provides two primary degree programmes: a two years Diploma course in Pharmacy (D.Pharma) and four years Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma) to fulfill the educational requirement of the growing pharma sector.
Facilities: Presenting a host of pharmaceutically-designed equipment College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kottayam also houses multi-faceted complexes to ensure the complete development of the students. College library acts as an information centre where students require to get pharmaceutical literature and research works. Fully equipped laboratories in the latest technologies and with different types of equipment are important since they provide practical lessons in a pharmacy course. Kottayam’s College of Pharmaceutical Sciences has a concentration system with only two main courses in the field of pharmacy. The institute offer two years Pharma diploma known as D.Pharma and four years Bachelor of Pharmacy known as B.Pharma. Both programmes are full-time, campus-based degree programmes meant to offer an extensive understanding in pharmaceutical sciences. D.Pharma course has intake capacity of 60 students per year at an annual cost of Rs 13660/- adequate teaching facility is permitted in every batch.
The B.Pharma programme also has an approved intake of 60 students annually and tuition fee of ₹92,680 per year, higher than that of D. Pharmacy because the curriculum is advanced. Furthermore, Dilip had established a B.Pharma Lateral Entry at the college prompting the diploma holders to join the second year of the B.Pharma program. All the courses account for 284 student intake and the college has optimal student faculty ratio which enhances student attention and education.
Main admissions policy at the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kottayam, is fully based on standardised qualification evaluation, without any analogue of competitive entrance examinations. For the D.Pharma programme the candidate should have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistery and Biology/Maths. The basic eligibility criteria for B.Pharma programme includes pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics at least 50% of marks for open category (SC/ST/PwD 45%*) candidates.

After every competitive exam, marks totally depends on the toughness of the paper and the set cutoff or min. criteria that each candidate has to fulfil. You need to score a minimum of 10 marks in each of the papers , that is, you should score at least 10 marks in Paper 1 (Physics and Chemistry) and 10 marks in paper 2 (Maths), to be qualified for the rank list.
