The IUC- College of Pharmacy, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam University, Indore started in 2016 is a constituent college of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam University, situated at Indore, Madhya Pradesh. This reputed college and institution offers PCI approved pharmacy course to its students to make them able to cater the pharmaceutical needs of the country. Located on a mere 2.5 acres, the college provides 4 courses at 3 degree levels for 324 enrollees. Spread across 24 members the college has a low student strength teacher ratio. It offers a variety of programmes in Pharmaceutical fields: Pharmacology and Pharmaceutics, which gives the full picture of pharmacy studies.
There are rich provisions of learning amenities to enhance the students and their performance as a college. The library is an important constituent of scholastic infrastructure with more than 44321 books and journal. Bayer and Olson noted that it is divided into reference, lending and book bank with the aim serving variety of students’ aspects. Sophisticated laboratories are also available for practical exposition in pharmaceutical examination. To ensure convenience of transport to students, the college has transport facilities for the prime location of Indore, Dewas, Mhow and Pithampur. A commodious cafetaria and mini food courts guarantee student healthy food which meets the necessary standards of hygiene. The college also has health centers with concentrated stocks of first-aid equipment and call for ambulance in case of emergencies.
CU Pharmacy College offers all full time courses in the field of pharmacy education. 4 programmes consist of the 4-year B.Pharma, the 2-year D.Pharma, two 2-year M.Pharma programmes in Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology in the faculty. These courses were approved for a total of 108 students with ninety for D.Pharma and nine for each of the M.Pharma. Though the number of B.Pharma seats remain undefined, the college has a total strength of 324 students; signifying B.Pharma is indeed accepting a good amount of students.
The policy on admission at the College of Pharmacy aims at admitting those students with the highest qualifications in their respective programs. Admissions to the B.Pharma and D.Pharma programmes are offered through merit, the applicant’s performance in their qualifying examination being taken into consideration. The developed M.Pharma programmes in Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology also require the GPAT score for their admission. GPAT is a national level admission test for those who wants to take admission in post graduation for pharmacy graduates.
The college accepts GPAT scores importantly underlining its policy of offering admission only to students with good foundation in pharmacy.
