The College of Teacher Education Vaikom was set up in the year 1998 as one of the premier institutions to build the future educators. This is a coeducational school situated in Kottayam, Kerala, which functions as a constituent college to provide good teacher training courses. The college occupies a small area of 1.25 acres but has aimed at achieving high standards of education, which it attained through membership with National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college offers one course in the stream of Education. 

Front and centre of this college’s focus is its premier four-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme, whose aim is to produce competent and enthusiastic teachers. The college restricts the number of students and faculties: total students intake thirty-five and total faculties nine, which provides better care and a positive atmosphere for learning. This is a full-time course, taking two years’ duration and has an approved capacity to take a total of fifty students in each cohort, thereby ensuring close contact learning. The admission procedure for the first  and  second  year  undergraduate  programmes  of  the  College  of Teacher Education, Vaikom, is managed through the Centre for Professional and Advanced Studies (CPAS), Kottayam. Main applicants are expected to provide their applications on or before the set dates as stated. In that selection process, the college ensures that they go through the application process and prepare a ranked list of applicants. The candidates are then invited for interviews after short listing has been done.
