College of Veterinary Science, Proddatur: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

The College of Veterinary Science, Proddatur, Andhra Pradesh was established in the year 2008 – is self-financing constituent college to impart Veterinary Education in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. This institution is set in Gopavaram Village, Dr. YSR Kadapa District, occupies a vast area of 83.42 acres of land. The college provides all types of veterinary education, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level in order to accommodate 352 students with a faculty of 63. It is a co –educational institution where the institution opens doors of opportunities for both the male and female students.

The college offers various state-of-the-art amenities intended to complement leaning and the welfare of the learners. The well equipped library makes up that efficiency of study material and acts as a knowledge center for the students. Modern facilities of laboratories give practical learning in different specialties of veterinary science for preparing the students for further professional practice. The same resides hostels for the students separately for both male and female students with facilities of quality living. Those interested in having a feel of fitness will be able to make use of a modern gym facility. In attendance to student needs is the health center where first aid services are offered to the students by the college. And, also having facilities such as cafeteria, sport’s complex and spacious car park area adds on to the campus cricket.

Veterinary college Proddatur has three unique programs passed for different category of veterinary education. They are; Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & AH), Master of Veterinary Science (M.VSc), as well as Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Veterinary Science. All programs are on full time basis, the B.V.Sc & AH is a 6- year program, while the M.V.Sc and Ph.D are programs are 2year programs. The total number of intakes is kept limited to 352 across all programs so that every learner gets a good deal of attention and quality education.

Automatic admissions in the College of Veterinary Science, Proddatur are based on program and quota offered and may slightly differ from the other admission procedures. 85 % of the state quota of seats in the B.V.Sc & AH program are filled by the students through combined counselling conducted by ANGRAU on the basis of merit rank obtained in AP EAMCET. Special emphasis has been put on farmer’s quota issue where qualifying candidates with linkage to farming must secure at least 25% of total possible area wise seats. The other 15% comes under the all-India quota which is being conducted by the ‘‘Veterinary Council of India New Delhi’. For M.V.Sc and Ph.D programs, the admissions are also only open for students from Andhra Pradesh, and the university fills the seats through an entrance test and interview held by SVVU. Also, 30 percentage of the total seats in M.V.Sc are under the ICAR quota. The college takes AP EAMCET scores for admissions in undergraduate programs which are in sync with other similar institutions in the state. Unfortunately, there is no information on the college-based scholarship for international students but being part of SVVU may give any chance at the college. Located in Tirupathi as a constituent college of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, it harnessing the university name and fender while producing students for successful career in the veterinary science and animal husbandry fields.
