Government Polytechnic, Chikmagalur, also known as DAFG has begun in 1958 in Karnataka, India. This is a government polytechnic college which is an affiliated college under All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Located right at RG Road, across Town Canteen in Vijayapura, Chikmagalur, the institute has been qualifying technical human resources for over six decades’ timeless. DACG Government Polytechnic currently offers 6 diploma programmes to 732 total students with a faculty size of 25. This is evident from the following of specialisation that are offered by the institute that is Mechanical Electronics & Communication Electrical & Electronics Computer Science Civil & Automobile Engineering.

The institute has Ac host of amenities in place and has attempted to make learning in classes as effective as possible. The college library acts as an information centre whereby students are availed a wide technical literature and resources. To confirm practical experience, the polytechnic has effectively maintained functional departmental laboratories, where student’s practice can be done in real life scenarios based on the theories learnt. As for the degree of specialisation, the DACG Government Polytechnic entirely offers six full time diploma courses are running and all the courses have a validity of three years. These programmes focus on different branches of engineering offering students a strong preparation within the subject. The institute takes 860 students in total per year Through the various courses, most programmes take sixty students per year though the Diploma in Automobile Engineering takes fifty students in a year. The large variety of courses means that the student is able to select many different fields which will ready them for many different fields within the engineering industry.
