Dakshin Kamrup College, Mirza was established in the year 1961. It is an affiliated college and is co-educational, sprawled over an area of 27.49 acres in the Kamrup district of Guwahati in the state of Assam. This college is graded as conducive to learning and development with a total student strength of 2527 and a faculty strength of 99. Dakshin Kamrup College offers 24 courses in 9 degrees, including popular programmes in Arts, Science, and Commerce. Dakshin Kamrup College has mainly taken up the merit-based admission procedure so that only the deserving candidates could join the coveted programmes. College follows a transparent admission procedure so that applications selected purely on the ground of merits, that is, strictly on the basis of the performance of the candidates in the qualifying examinations.

Admission to Undergraduate programmes such as BA, B. Sc. Admission to B.Com is strictly on the basis of marks obtained in the 10+2 or equivalent examination. The B.Voc programme too follows the same merit-based mode of admission. The marks secured at the bachelor's level are taken for consideration for postgraduate courses and the PGDCA course also, by the college.
