DAV PG College, Lucknow Admission

DAV PG College, Lucknow, is a reputed institution, affiliated both to Calcutta University and to the Bar Council of India. The college offers a range of courses in arts, sciences.  Every course has its different procedure of admission because each program has its special demands. Most typically, qualifying students are enlisted in the above month, that is before the start of the academic year, which, again, usually is in the months of July or August. Academic performance in previous qualifying examinations is the main criterion for admission to in most of its courses. With respect to undergraduate programs, admission tests taken into account are mainly the ones scored in the Intermediate (10+2) examinations.

This makes the admission process competitive and focused mainly on merit-based selection. Correspondingly, in the case of postgraduate courses, score obtained during graduation was the major benchmark. However, the LLB program takes it further in basing its admissions on that required score being attained in their undergraduate degree. It is important to track the announcements of admission made public on the college's website and local newspapers. The college may also have counseling or conducts certain interview procedures on admission for certain courses.

2. Application Form: Candidates obtain and complete the application form. This can usually be found either online on the college website or through the admission office of the college.

3. Submission of Documents: The completed application form must be sent with certain documents, which generally comprise:

  • Marksheets of qualifying exams (10th, 12th, or graduation)
  • Character certificate from the last attended institution
  • Transfer certificate

5. Entrance Test/Interview: For several courses, primarily post-graduate level, the college may conduct either an entrance test or an interview.

6. Merit List: Based on the most applicable criterion for each course, such as marks in qualifying examination, entrance test results, etc., the college prepares and publishes merit lists.

7. Counseling and Admission: Shortlisted candidates are called for counseling, wherein they get their documents verified and pay the fees for admissions to book their seats.

8. Orientation: Admitted students attend an orientation program in which they learn the college rules, its facilities, and academic expectation.

Admission Process According To Degree

BA: For the BA program, admission is granted according to the marks obtained at the Intermediate (10+2) level. The program has 550 seats available. This includes normal procedures, i.e. completion of application form with required documents, to meet the cut-off marks as established by the college.

B.Sc (Zoology, Botany, and Chemistry): Like the PCM program, this course also follows a first-come-first-served admission policy. There are 106 seats open for this program. Preference is given to those students who come with a biology background at the 10+2 level.

LLB: The program offers 198 seats to the LLB program. The program bases admissions upon the marks obtained by the candidate in graduation. For eligibility, the college may lay down a minimum percentage criterion.

MA Ancient Indian History: A total of 66 seats constitute this postgraduate program. No details have been provided regarding admission, but it stands to reason that the college will honor the marks students receive in the relevant bachelor's degree when assessing admissions.

BA Economics Major: The college has 60 seats for this special BA program. The admission likely follows the procedure of the general BA program but may emphasize a bit more on the marks obtained in Economics at the 10+2 level.
