About Delhi Institute of Rural Development, Nangli Poona, Delhi

DIRD was set up in 2002 and carries the affiliation of a private college which is located in Nangli Poona, Delhi. Delhi Institute of Research and Development (DIRD) is standing as a separate entity in affiliated with the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) and provides numerous programmes in Arts, Humanities, Social Science, Commerce, Elementary Teacher Education, Elementary Teacher Education and Computer Applications. It is located in a small 1 acre area and is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Total student enrolment in DIRD is 585 and the faculty members are 33 in strength which makes it to offer focused learning. 

As for infrastructural facilities, modern amenities of DIRD include complete facilities for its academic activities. There is also the use of modern communication and teaching aids where the institute’s classrooms are fitted with modern audio visual gadgets. It has a stock of approximately 24000 books, and it is affiliated with 50 journals, magazines and newspapers of national and international repute. It is an automated library with high internet connection, this makes it easy for students and faculty to find the information they need. The information technology facilities are strong, with four computerised centres having recent hardware and software’s and internet bandwidth greater than 8 Mbps. To make sure that the students receive the best transportation services, DIRD offers transport facilities for leading lanes of Delhi-NCR including Sonipat and Kundali. The campus also own a large dining hall where student are provided with healthy and clean foods as well as facilities that promotes physical as well as character development.

At present, it has a total of nine courses of which consists of both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These comprise full time programme like BBA, BCA, B.Ed., & LLM with various specialisations. DIRD also has an evening shift for students, especially for the BBA programme to address various students’ schedules. 

According to the admission criteria of DIRD, most of the admissions are done on the basis of CET held by GGSIPU. For admission to B.B.A, it is mandatory for candidates to appear for the IPU CET. The B.Ed programme admission follows written test or CET merit which has entrance examination as one of its requirements. For BCA admission in any of the affiliated colleges of GGS, IP University candidates must appear for GGS-IP CAT.
