The Department of Computer Science and Applications, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, is a prestigious constituent college of the university that aims to impart quality education in the field of computer science. This department has a faculty strength of 10 highly experienced professionals and runs various postgraduate programs to cater to the ever-changing demands of the IT industry.

The department is well matched with all necessary facilities for its academic pursuits. But at the very core of these resources is its well-stocked departmental library with about 10,000 books comprising textbooks and reference books, with an additional sitting capacity for 60 students. And the IT infrastructure is any different - four computer labs fitted out with about 250 machines comprising 4 IBM Xeon servers, 120 thin clients, and various P IV machines. Students get first-hand experience with the industry-used tools in ORACLE, Visual Studio, Windows, and Linux. A well-equipped, air-conditioned seminar room with all modern audio visual aids such as an LCD projector and visual presenter is available for academic discussions and presentations.

The Department of Computer Science and Applications runs three full-time P.G. courses: M. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Master of Computer Applications (MCA), and M.Sc. These courses are targeted to equip students with advanced knowledge and skill sets associated with several facets of computer science, hence preparing them for successful careers in the rapidly changing technology industry. 

The admission process is strictly based on merit and is competitive in nature for the Department of Computer Science and Applications. The department accepts scores in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) as the entrance requirement for its M.Tech. course.
