The Department of Computer Science and Applications, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, was started in 1990 as a premier constituent college of the university for promoting computer science education and research. This AICTE-approved institute has a faculty strength of 10 highly experienced persons who come together to run four special degree programs catering to different aspects of computer science. 

Students of the Department of Computer Science and Applications make use of a host of modern facilities designed to enhance their learning experience. The institutes are fully equipped with well-furnished laboratories that provide hands-on experience with the latest technology. It is a learning hub with a well-stocked library that exposes students to an enormous amount of literature from many books, journals, and different digital resources. The IT infrastructure in the institution ensures that students remain connected and updated with the latest software and tools they require in their studies. In terms of accommodation, there are various hostels for males and females to ensure comfortable living. 

The department offers a diverse range of full-time courses in order to satisfy the fast-changing needs of the IT industry. The courses offered in the program lineup include an MCA, M.Tech in Computer Science, M.Sc in Computer Science, and Ph.D. in Computer Science. All these programs at this college have been designed in such a way that they provide students with advanced theoretical knowledge and practical working skills in domains of computer science, so that they can either build up a successful career in industry or academia.

The admission procedure to the various programmes in the Department of Computer Science and Applications is based upon the nature of course. The admissions to MCA programmes are looked after by Haryana State Counselling Society, Panchkula, and hence the selection process at this level is very fair and transparent. First preference in the M.Tech Computer Science programme is given to candidates having valid GATE scores. If candidates with valid GATE scores are not available, then marks in qualifying examinations will be considered.
