This university has its Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, Bilaspur, which is an important constituent college of Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur, formed in 1990. Its location is central to Chhattisgarh, making this institution one of the largest, with an area space of 655 acres providing a quiet background to provide maximum attention to learning and research activities. The department, accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), has itself on the list of fines computer science departments. The current head of the department is Arunima Malik, with twelve members in the faculty currently.

In order to choose the most qualified candidates, the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology has developed an admission procedure. For undergraduate programmes, including B.Sc. Computer Science (Hons), the department accepts CUET UG, an ALL INDIA TEST, for admission to undergraduate programmes.
