Department of Computer Science and Information Technology as one of the prominent science departments of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly was started in the year 1995. This Constituent College is established in Uttar Pradesh and it is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Computer science & Information technology Department of the university provides B.Tech, MCA & Ph.D courses. In nut shell, the structure and functioning of the department focus on the education needs of the students in the field of computer science and technology and to equip the students to face future technological challenges. It is a co educational institute and students from all over the country can join the institute and complete their education. 

The department has the following facilities for the development of its courses and for the enhancement of the learning of the students. There are over 1,500 books in the library with general information and subject specific information on B.Tech in Computer Science and Information Technology for the students as they study. The college also has well equipped laboratories; enabling students to have practical experience in their line of specialty. Out of all these infrastructure attributes, it can be noted that the latest configured computer terminal was provided for the students aside from other necessary software setup so as to equip them gradually in line with current industry standards. Also the campus provides internet connection for students and staffs, such as Wi-Fi for internet access to different resources to create an enhance learning environment. There are sports facilities for those students who would like to combine academic process with active spare time. The department also has an alumni association that will provide the school with a strong network of contact that will assist the current students in the future job market. 

The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology has a total of four courses which are all full course programs. These are B.Tech Computer Science and Information Technology, B.Tech Computer Science Information Technology lateral entry, MCA and Ph.D. Computer Science Information Technology. B.Tech and B.Tech Lateral Entry has a total intake of 96 students where B.Tech has 60 seats, B.Tech Lateral Entry has 6 seats and MCA has 30 seats. As to the admission policy, the annual intake of the Ph.D. program is not provided. 

The admission process of the department of computer science and information technology depends on the program offered. For the B.Tech program, the college selects students who completed the JEE-Main Entrance Examination and thus, the students enrolled have a strong background in mathematics and science. The B.Tech Lateral Entry is the UPSEE exam for entry into the second year of the B.Tech program for diploma holders which brings in students into this stream. 

The admission to the programme of MCA is direct, through the UP-CET ranking list, and for the programme of Ph.D., the candidates have to clear the UP-CEE or cleared the University Entrance Examination/ NET. These different avenues of admission guarantee the department enrols deserving students from all fields of specialization. However, Uniqueness of the scholarship is not specified Information technology is evident in the number of courses offered and the modern facilities of the department.
