Department of Engineering and Technology of JIS University, Kolkata has emerged as one of the premier technical colleges of West Bengal. The admission process is formulated to be all-encompassing and fair so that only students with a sound background in science and mathematics are admitted.

For under-graduate courses, the institute considers scores of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE), a state-level entrance test. The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) or JEE Main scores are also accepted for B. Tech admissions. 10+2 or equivalent examination academic performance is also an important factor in the selection process.

For postgraduate programs such as M. Tech in Data Science, the institute considers the West Bengal Post Graduate Entrance Test (WB PGET) scores to choose the candidates for higher studies.

Eligibility for B. Tech programs: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as mandatory subjects M. Tech programs: Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology relevant to the course.

Application Process

Department of Engineering and Technology, JIS University, Kolkata, application process varies as per the course:

For B.Tech programs:

1. Take the WBJEE or JEE Main test.
2. Once the results are declared, the shortlisted candidates can apply online from the official website of JIS University.
3. Fill up the online application form with your personal and educational information.
4. Upload 10+2 mark sheet, entrance exam score card & other certificates as per the required documents.
5. Pay online application fee.
6. Submit the filled-in application form.
7. Merit list will be released by the university or call for counseling.

For M.Tech in Data Science:

1. Take the WB PGET test.
2. Look for the application notice on the JIS University website.
3. Submit the online application form for admission to M.Tech.
4. Upload documents such as Bachelor's degree certificate, mark sheets and entrance exam score card.
5. Pay the application fee.
6. Submit the application and wait for further communication from the university.

For Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering:

1. Look out for Ph.D. admission announcements on the JIS University website.
2. Download and submit the Ph.D. application form.
3. Prepare a research proposal according to the university instructions.
4. Submit the application form along with all necessary documents, i.e., master's degree certificate, research proposal, and publications

5. Shortlisting on the basis of entrance test and/or interview as organized by the department.

Degree wise Admission Process

B. Tech
The school of engineering and technology has four full-time B. Tech programs: computer science and engineering, data science, cyber security, and artificial intelligence and machine learning. Admission is done mainly based on WBJEE or JEE Main rank. The approved intake for B. Tech in computer science and engineering is 120.

M. Tech: The institute has M. Tech course in Data Science with a sanctioned intake of 30 seats. The admission is done based on WB PGET followed by any other additional requirements as per the university rules.

BCA: The department also provides Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) course. Admission for this course can be different from B. Tech course and is likely to be on the basis of candidate's 10+2 marks and any entrance exam prescribed by the university.

Ph. D.: The department is also providing Ph. D. in Computer Science and Engineering. Doctoral education typically involves an independent application, a research proposal, an interview, and an assessment of the candidate's education.

Admission documents usually required are:
