Department of Law, University of Kashmir Srinagar, founded in 1973, is a luminary of legal education in the scenic vale of Kashmir. This constituent college, recognised by the Bar Council of India (BCI), has been carving out legal professionals for almost fifty years. Located in the capital of the Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir, at code 190006, the department has numerous legal programs for the aspiring legal brains. The institute is staffed with 14 committed and qualified teaching faculty members always ready to provide optimum learning solutions to students.
The Department of Law proudly stand for providing different academic facilities to make their journey enriched. The college has a rich library that helps students to access legal information and knowledge throughout the study. In order to survive in the current society the institution has embraced the use of excellent IT facilities so that the learners can have facilities to carry out their research and learning using technology. Internet connection is available on campus using Wi-Fi technology, which enhances the academic functioning of the campus. As a true development solution for the students, the department also provides the sports amenities so as to ensure the work-life balance of the students. The college also ensures that alumni relations are well developed through functional alumni bodies that were profile in this research which acts as a source of connection for the current students.
The Department of Law provides a wide range of full-time five courses to meet the different need of the students for legal education. These are the more common threes years LLB programme, the unique five years Bachelors of Art with LLB course, two years’ masters of Law for post graduate programme and six years integrated Doctor of Philosophy with Law programme for the legal professionals who wish to get involved in legal research. Also of interest, the department provides an LLB Supplementary Shift to meet the needs of even more students. The total number of students that have been approved for these programs is 177 and approved distribution of seats are as follows: 65 for UG programme-LLB, 65 for integrated UG-PG programme-BA LLB, 25 for PG programme-LLM and 22 for a new supplementary shift LLB programme.
