The Department was started in the year 1988 at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur, a NAAC accredited university located in Chhattisgarh. It is a Constituent College of Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur Chhattisgarh recognised by AICTE, New Delhi affiliated to Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya offering Management & Hospitality programmes. The stated department is located in a wide 655 acre piece of land in order to create a conducive environment for academic achievement and students character development. The faculty comprises of 4 dedicated persons offering only 2 degree programs with specialization in Business Administration & Management at under graduate, post graduate and doctoral level. 

The Department of Management Studies boast well equipped Academia which is an additional asset in delivering knowledge and skills to its walls. The campus comprises well-equipped computerized teaching facilities, a well-stocked library with more than 128000 books, publication of many publications, and well-equipped computer laboratories with high internet connection. Students find accommodation comfort in the hostels, the college has 3 boys’ hostel which can accommodate over 800 boys and 1 girls’ hostel can accommodate more than 430 girls. The institute also has an efficient and modern auditorium for academic and cultural programs, a cafeteria which serves yummy meals and fully equipped sports for indoor and outdoor games. The Department offers two full-time courses: A four year full time bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) having 60 intake capacity and two years Full timeMaster of Business Administration (MBA) having intake capacity 40. The MBA program has specialization in Finance, Marketing and Human Resource Management; this arms the students with more detailed knowledge in their areas of specialty. The total number of students that can be admitted to these programs is 100, which is strategic to ensure that the institute keeps a good student to teacher ratio and a diret student to teacher ratio in order to be able to attend to each of the learners indvidually. 

The students seeking admission to the Department of Management Studies have to endure through fairly competitive admission procedure on the basis of merit. In terms of undergraduate admission, the institute accept Common University Entrance Test also known as CUET UG examination administered by the National Testing Agency or NTA. For MBA program the admission at the postgraduate level is granted on the basis of Common Management Admission Test (CMAT). For its post graduate programs the department also takes into consideration the CUET PG scores.
