The major work is done under the roof of Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Research of Punjabi University Patiala, which is a reputed department for pharmaceutical education and research. Incorporated in the year 1993, this constituent college of Punjabi University has been providing a precision of pharmacy for nearly three decades. Situated in Patiala, Punjab – the department provides under graduate and post graduate programmes in pharmaceutical sciences. AICTE and PCI approvals make ensure the department and the university deliver quality education in line with the other parts of India. The faculty comprises 18 experienced professionals who guide as well as mentor the students through their college career.

The department provides all levels of courses in pharmaceutical sciences. The college offers six full-time programmes, out of them one is undergraduate level bachelors of pharmacy (B.Pharma) and five are at post graduate level masters of pharmacy (M.Pharma) with different streams.

For M.Pharma programs, an entrance test is conducted for admission. The specializations offered by the department include Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, and Pharmacy Practice with 8 seats in each, except for Pharmacy Practice which has 5 seats. Candidates with a B.Pharma degree from a recognized institution are entitled to apply for these programs.

The application process of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Research, Punjabi University, Patiala, is program-specific:
For select B.Pharma:
1. Go to the official website of Punjabi University, Patiala.
2. The admissions section contains the link to download the application form for B.Pharma.
3. Fill in the application form with furnishing valid personal and academic details.
4. Attach all relevant documents, including 10+2 mark sheets, passport-sized photos, and any certificates mentioned.
5. Submit the completed application form along with an application fee by the deadline.

On the other hand, the following activities are meant for M.Pharma programs:
1. Go through the university website for notifications regarding the entrance test.
2. Register for the entrance test by completing the online application form.
3. Pay the required application fee and entrance fee.
4. Download and print the entrance test admit card.
5. Appear for the entrance test as per the schedule.
6. After the declaration of the test results, shortlisted candidates will be called for counseling.
7. All original documents must be brought for verification during counseling.
8. Eligible candidates will be allotted seats based on entrance test performance and verification of documents.
9. The final admission will be completed by fee payment and document submission.
Degree-wise Admission Process
B.Pharma: The B.Pharma degree program at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Research, Punjabi University, Patiala, has 60 seats. The entrance is granted on merit in the qualifying examination (12th standard). To be eligible, candidates should complete 12th standard in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics. The course is run for a period of four years and deals with various aspects of pharmaceutical sciences.
M.Pharma: There are five specializations among which the department offers of M.Pharma:
1. M.Pharma Pharmaceutical Chemistry (8 seats)
2. M.Pharma Pharmaceutics (8 seats)

4. M.Pharma Pharmacology (8 seats)

This is an entrance-test-based admission for all the specializations of M.Pharma. Candidates are supposed to have a B.Pharma degree from a recognized institution to be eligible for application. The GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) scores may also be considered for admission in these programs.
