The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dibrugarh University is a constituent college of the University which started its journey in the year 1994 at Dibrugarh, the Gateway of the North East Assam. This reputed university has made its own specialties in the area of pharmaceutical education and research. Recognised by the PCI and AICTE, the department provides an umbrella of pharmaceutical programs to the students. The department has a faculty of 12 members exclusively committed to the training of new pharmacists as well as researchers. The institution provides 7 courses at 3 degree levels, which focus on the pharmaceutics, pharmacology, and pharmaceutical chemistry field.
The students learning at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences have access to wide facilities that have been tailored to support enhanced learning. The department has created a well-endowed library that would arm potential students with sundry pharmaceutical literature. Modern computer equipped and technologically advanced laboratories provide student practical training in their areas of specialization. The department also boast of good Information Technology where the students are taken through modern technologies in the pharma industries. Measures of convenience includes a cafeteria for students and staff, an auditorium for events, seminars among others and parking space for cars among others. Education also considered important with learning facilities include a health center that offers first aid to students.
Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences has designed its curriculum to provide a comprehensive package of full time courses for different needs for education in the Pharmaceutical and related fields. B.Pharma is the major program offered by the department; a four-year undergraduate program with an intake capacity of 40 students. The department also offers the following postgraduate programs: Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharma) which takes two years. Such are M.Pharma in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. However, for those who want to pursue higher research then the department also has a Ph.D. programme in Pharmacy. The PCI has approved an intake of only 26 students for all the specialization streams offered in M.Pharma so as to impart quality education.
The entrance procedure of the DPS is based on merit and concerning the programs it may differ. The final selection of students in the B.Pharma program depends on the percentage of marks achieved in Physics, Chemistry, Biology streams in Higher Secondary examination. However, candidates with two year diploma in pharmacy are also considered as eligible for entrance test. M.Pharma program has university/ institute level counseling of short listed candidates based on merit. While formulating the entire policy, the candidates who have appeared in the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) or other equivalent examinations are preferred. The department considers GPAT scores for its postgraduate programs its show of willingness to admit the best students. Though detailed information about scholarships is not available, resources in Dibrugarh University can be expected to provide many kinds of scholarships. Prominent alumni cannot be mentioned yet available data show that as a part of a reputable university, the department has definitely trained many successful graduates who have made great impacts in pharmaceutical sector and research.

And the eligibility Criteria by this entry of lateral must be the candidate should be completed the D. Pharma course from a recognized university and they must have scored a minimum 50% in D. pharma and differs with the reserved category with the relaxation of 5% in the minimum score. Candidate must appear and qualify the admission test if any for the respective university.
