Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh Admission Process

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh, provides various pharmacy programs approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). The admission procedure is aimed at admitting meritorious students to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in pharmaceutical sciences. The department adheres to a merit-based admission procedure, with certain criteria for different courses.

For admission to the B.Pharma program, the student is selected according to the marks percentage in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology obtained in the higher secondary examination. Students with a two-year pharmacy diploma are also considered for admission. The university/institute-level counseling of selected students on a merit basis for the M.Pharma programs takes place, considering priority to candidates who have sat for the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) or equivalent tests.

The department teaches courses at three levels of degrees: B.Pharma, M.Pharma, and Ph.D. in Pharmacy. The admission process generally runs in tandem with the academic year.

Application Process

Application procedure for the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dibrugarh University, differs according to the course:

For B.Pharma:

1. Download the application form from the university website or collect it from the department office.

2. Complete the application form with correct personal and academic information.

6. Merit-based university/institute-level counseling will be called for shortlisted candidates.

For Ph.D. Pharmacy:

The overall procedure would likely include:

1. Verification of eligibility criteria on the university website.

2. Getting and submitting the Ph.D. application form.

3. Filling up the form with necessary documents, if any, such as research proposal, master's degree certificates, and letters of recommendation.

4. Appearing for an entrance test and/or interview as necessary according to departmental requirements.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Pharma: There are 50 intake seats available for the B.Pharma programme. Eligible students should pass 10+2 with subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology and have secured not less than 45% aggregate marks in these subjects. They will be shortlisted by merit on percentage basis in terms of marks at higher secondary. Two years of diploma pharmacy candidates are also eligible.

M.Pharma: M.Pharma programs are offered in four specializations: Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, and Pharmacology. Each of these specializations has the following intake capacity:

  • M.Pharma Pharmaceutics: 15
  • M.Pharma Pharmaceutical Chemistry: 6
  • M.Pharma Pharmacognosy: 6
  • M.Pharma Pharmacology: 6

For all the M.Pharma programs, applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy with a minimum 55% mark. Admissions are merit and valid score based in GPAT or equivalent examinations.

Ph.D. Pharmacy: The department also has a Ph.D. course in Pharmacy. Although no details of the admission process are mentioned, it can be assumed that the candidates need to have a Master's degree in Pharmacy or a related field to be considered.

Pharma course from a recognized university and they must have scored a minimum 50% in D. pharma and differs with the reserved category with the relaxation of  5% in the minimum score. Candidate must appear and qualify the admission test if any for the respective university.
