DIMS Meerut: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

The Dewan Institute of Management Studies is one of the prominent institutes established in 1996 at Partapur, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The co-educational institute is affiliated to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, and its programs are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, for various undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Sprawled over a 6.62-acre campus, DIMS has a total student intake of 1,040 with faculty strength of 37. The institute provides four degree courses in MBA, MCA, BBA, and BCA, which cater to management and computer application aspirants. The manner in which the students are profiled speaks about international diversity, which is because 207 postgraduate students comprise 53% males and 47% females, thus keeping prudent gender balance. In addition, 94% of the students hail from within the state.

DIMS has a broad spectrum of facilities to enhance the growth of students in academics and as beings. It has well-furnished, spacious classrooms and separate, on-campus, well-equipped hostels for boys and girls. The library is modern, with ample resources and reading areas. For techies, there are state-of-the-art computer labs with high-speed internet through both LAN and Wi-Fi. Sports facilities offer a number of indoor and outdoor games to inculcate physical fitness and the motive of team spirit. Also present are a cafeteria, a hall for conducting various events and guest lectures, and laboratories for practical learning based on departments. It also caters to a gymnasium for the physical enhancement of students and is a whole-campus connected Wi-Fi network to make the net available without interruption.

DIMs provides a total of four courses, all full-time programs. "The post graduate courses offered in DIMS cover a two year MBA course with 120 students intake and a two year MCA course having 90 seats. The institute presents three year BBA and BCA programs for the undergraduate students. The undergraduate intake is not available however the total number of students enrolled for all the courses summed up to 1,040. POST GRADUATION seems to be the buzzword as all the students currently enrolled in all the courses numbered 207 which means they are pursuing PG courses.".

The admission process at DIMS varies with the program. Admission to the MBA program is based primarily on the state entrance examination scores, as per the procedure prescribed by the university. For management quota seats, the institute considers scores obtained in national-level exams, i.e., MAT (Management Aptitude Test) and CAT (Common Admission Test), which are followed by a GD/PI process. The institute also accepts CAT results as a way to an MBA, and the form generally comes out from the first week of August. In the rest of the courses, admission is given generally on the basis of merit in courses or entrance exams conducted for the course. DIMS also offers scholarships, and in 2023, this has been cited such that of 207 postgraduate students, 16 were given some refund. Industry-integrated strong ties and vocational training programs offered by the institute shall make students job-ready. In addition to this, regular career fairs, internships, and recruitment drives further enhance the base of students according to industry requirements.
